Important Information
- Caused by the same virus hat causes chickenpox.
- A dormant type of chickenpox
- More often attacks adults rather than children
AKA: s hingles, zora; acute posterior ganglionitis
Causative Agent: same as chickenpox, varicella zoster virus
Mode of Transmission: droplets
Signs and Symptoms: maculo-papula rashes
- unilateral: follow the course of the peripheral nerves
- very painful
- appear in clusters
Management:
Medical care - Zovirax
Potassium permanganate compress (ABO)
A- astringent affect
B- bactericidal effect
O – oxidizing effect (deodorize the rash)
Nursing care: same as chickenpox
