The Dr. Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center (VRPMC) is a private, tertiary hospital with a 189-bed capacity located at 163 EDSA, Mandaluyong City. With its accessible location, it caters to the private as well as the industrial sectors of Mandaluyong and nearby areas of San Juan, Pasig, Marikina, Makati, Pasay, Quezon City and nearby towns of Rizal.

Established as the Polymedic General Hospital, Inc. by the late Dr. Victor R. Potenciano on September 22, 1967 with Col. Pelagio G. Potenciano, M.D., Arsenio G. Francisco, M.D., Mrs. Irma P.E. Potenciano and Flora P. Caviles, M.D. as incorporators, it grew throughout the years. In February 28,1998, a new business name was conceived to ensure that PGHI would no longer be mistaken for, or confused with the other “Polymedic” entities that have been operating in Metro Manila and elsewhere in the country. After this decision, it was unanimously agreed by the PGHI board to rename it after its founder and prime mover, the late Dr. Victor R. Potenciano.

Now on its 32nd year, VRPMC continues to provide quality healthcare services through acquiring new equipment and establishing new facilities. The 5-floor Physicians Center, which boasts of the well-appointed doctors’ clinics and modern facilities such as the Emergency Room, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department and Pharmacy is now operating to compliment the 10-story hospital building.

The hospital building continues to transform into a more customer-oriented hospital. Aside from the usual facilities, there are also specialty centers available to address specific medical needs of our patients, such as the Heart Station & Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, Women’s Healthcare Center, Eye Care Center, Respiratory Care Center, Ear Care Center, Breast Clinic the Endoscopy Center and others.

VRPMC likewise launched its own Oncology Center last June 25, 2005, which offers patients very affordable medicines and services for chemotherapy and a very relaxing spa-like ambience. In addition to this, VRPMC also has its own Adult Vaccination Center in coordination with GlaxosmithKline and has a new 4-storey parking building for patients and visitors.

VRPMC received the international distinction of being the first ISO 9001:1994 certified hospital in Metro Manila from the Anglo Japanese American Registrars, Inc. on June 2001. This certification gives the assurance that patients are given quality service through the quality management systems that the staff strictly implement. Since 2001, the standard of quality continues to increase and to show its commitment to provide the best possible healthcare service for its patients, VRPMC successfully upgraded its certification to version 2000 last Feb. 2004 and passed the most recent external audit just this August 2005. This version focuses more on the needs of the patients, therefore the clinical departments are now part of the quality system.
