Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines
Based in Metro-Manila, their organization is a local but internationally known non-profit, non-government humanitarian foundation, which owns and operates a medical eye bank named the Santa Lucia International Eye Bank of Manila (SLIEB), the first and only state-of-the-art eye banking facility in the country engaged in bringing the gift of sight to blind individuals both locally and globally. Spearheaded by prominent medical practitioners in the country, the Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines has, since its birth in 1994, transformed thousands of lives by making corneal transplant surgery accessible to people from all walks of life. It’s medical eye bank, the SLIEB, is a fully accredited member of the International Federation of Eye and Tissue Banks (IFETB), an international umbrella organization dealing with eye and tissue banks headquartered at Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
