Specialization Spotlight: Orthopaedic Nursing

Orthopedic or orthopedic nurses are nurses who specialized in the treatment, care and prevention of people with musculoskeletal disorders  or muscle and bone problems.  These musculoskeletal problems typically included bone fractures, join displacements,  back pains,  Arthritis/ rheumatism, congenital malformations, musculoskeletal injuries and chronic disorders such bone density losses.

These musculoskeletal disorders require specialized treatment and procedural skills that Orthopaedic nurses must be knowledgeable.  These skills included continuous passive motion therapy, which involved the constant but controlled motion of a join using a CPM device for rehabilitation; casting/ splinting or the encasing of a limb or body to keep broker bones together while healing; and external fixation or the surgical procedure in which holes are drilled and bolts/ wires are used to align the bones when healing.

University of the Philippines- Manila or UP Manila is manila branch of the premium state university. Founded in 1908, it serves as the center of health sciences education in the Philippines and has a strong component of research.  While UP may rank only second, it produced more registered nurses and more top board passers.

UMC Dasmarinas

UMC Dasmarinas is actually short for DLSUMC which stands for De La Salle University Medical Center. DLSUMC is located in Dasmarinas Cavite because the medical school of DLSU is located in its satellite campus in Congressional Avenue, Dasmariñas City, Cavite, Philippines.

The DLSUMC in particular serves as the main teaching hospital of the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute, while at the same time a healthcare institution or hospital that caters the population within the vicinity of the Dasmarinas and its nearby towns. UMC Dasmarinas was as originally launched as a teaching and training hospital for the Emilio Aguinaldo College of Medicine (EACM) in 1982. However, EACM was later acquired by De La Salle University in 1987.

As a partner of the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute, the private hospital is primarily owned by the Brothers of Christian Schools, a Catholic Congregation founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle. Administration of the hospital is provided by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres, a missionary Congregation, founded by Fr. Louis Chauvet that is essentially engaged in healthcare ministry. Incidentally, the same congregation of nuns is responsible for institution of St. Paul University.

Flight Nurse in the Philippines

Being a flight nurse is a prestigious job not only for the person but to one’s parents, children and other relatives. Ateneo de Naga student tops Nursing board

A nursing student from the Ateneo de Naga topped the Nursing Licensure Examination that was given last July, according to the Professional regulation Commission in a statement.

Rayan Abogado Oliva got a rating of 86.80 percent, the PRC said.
