The concept for the International Medical Center (IMC) started in the early 1990s with the vision of Sheikh Ahmed Hasan Fitaihi, the CEO and Chairman of the Fitaihi Company, who saw the need, the value, the importance, and the blessings in building a hospital. Sheikh Ahmed Fitaihi initiated and continued to support the project until the incorporation of the company. At the same time his son, Dr. Walid Fitaihi, was completing medical school at George Washington University in the United States and starting his internship and residency at Harvard Medical School. During the time that Dr. Fitaihi was doing his fellowship at Harvard Medical School and completing his Masters Degree in Health Policy and Management, he supervised the first marketing and financial studies of the International Medical Center. Soon a contract was signed with a team of architects from both Boston and Saudi Arabia. At that time Dr. Wael Kaawach joined the IMC project. Both Dr. Fitaihi and Dr. Kaawach were practicing physicians and clinical instructors at Harvard Medical School in Boston at the time, they were able to further develop the mission and vision of the IMC as well as overseeing the completion of the design of the hospital, signing with Joint Commission International, and achieving a partnership with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. In the mid-1990s architectural designing commenced as well as the establishment of a partnership between the IMC and The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. During the late 1990s, the IMC operated as a small start-up office, working in collaboration with some of the best architectural, design, and contracting firms in the United States. Advisors and consultants from varied areas joined in the take-off operations. Upon the completion of architectural and design plans , in 2002, business operations moved from Boston to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and several more individuals joined the management team. The IMC team grew and operations continued. The momentous occasion of ground-breaking for the IMC took place in Jeddah in January of 2003. With the presence of the Chairman and CEO of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Dr. Floyd Loop, the ceremony was all the more celebratory. IMC now stand on the cusp of a new and exciting era. As we are witnessing all their dreams and hard work converted to reality, they take pride in all what they promised in terms of providing a unique and comprehensive service to those in need. IMC offer the following range of healthcare services, organized alphabetically into clinical departments: Ambulatory Care o Outpatient Clinics o Day Surgery Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Pain Management o Anesthesia Preoperative Clinic o Critical Care Division o Pain Management Unit o Surgical Anesthesia Dentistry o Dental Implantology o Endodontics o Oral and Maxillofacial surgery o Orthodontics o Pedodontics o Periodontics o Prosthodontics Emergency Medicine / Internal Medicine o Audiology o Cardiology o Dermatology o Endocrinology o Gastroenterology o General Internal Medicine o Infectious disease o Nephrology o Neurology o Psychiatry o Pulmonary o Rheumatology Pediatric Medicine o General Pediatrics o Neonatal Intensive Care Unit o Pediatric Intensive Care Unit o Pediatric Subspecialties Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine o Men’s Rehab Center o Occupational Therapy o Outpatient And Inpatient Services o Physical Therapy o Women’s Rehab Center Surgery o ENT o General Surgery o Minimally Invasive Surgery o Neurosurgery o Ophthalmology o Orthopedic Surgery o Plastic Surgery o Podiatry o Urology

King Fahad National Guard Hospital in Riyadh commenced its operations in May 1983. Since then, it has continued expanding, while providing services for a rapidly growing patient population in all of its catchments areas. Today, King Fahad National Guard Hospital has evolved to be part of the King Abdulaziz Medical City with many other prominent medical centers. King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, since it was announced in February 2001, has established itself as a center of excellence. In 2002, KAMC-Riyadh increased its bed capacity to 691 beds, with a 25 potential operational beds in Ward 19, while having a total number of phantom beds of 132. The Emergency Care Center continues to be the best trauma care center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is ranked as the fourth center outside the United States, to provide the program of PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma And Life Support Program). Ambulatory Care Services & Primary Health Care Services provide preventive services including health education &behavioral modification to adopt healthy lifestyles. Surgical and Critical Units include an outstanding Burn Unit, Surgical ICU, Endoscopy Unit, Operating Rooms, and Neuro-Surgical and Surgical Units. The Long-Term Care Rehabilitation Center was also opened. Home Health Care Services were also expanded. The concept of the hospital-based service of Home Health Care, has been in place in other international Health Centers, for decades. However, the concept has been introduced on a limited basis, to serve as palliative care and pain control, at home services. Because they believe faithfully in solidarity and sustainability, international consultants in the field of Healthcare Quality were actively involved in a needs assessment plan to launch their Total Quality Assurance and Improvement Program, through which each member of NGHA is committed to the highest standards.NGHA is successful in providing the lowest mortality and morbidity rates among the patient population despite the fact that the Emergency Care Center continues to be the Level I trauma center for the Kingdom. Successfully, NGHA managed to found the College of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh where there are over 125 Saudi females enrolled in their Bachelor of Nursing Programs. KFH-GardensAs NGHA is leading the evolution of healthcare systems, it has the privilege of operating the Misys Healthcare Systems (Per-Se’) Clinical Informatics System that will mainstream and standardize all the medical records documentation, and expedite processing requests to minimize the amount of paper wasted, through a virtual knowledge system. Indirectly it will also reduce the patient’s length of stay.

For close to a century, St. Luke’s Medical Center has provided its patients with the best professionals and the most advanced medical equipment and technology. Founded in 1903 by American Episcopal missionary Charles Brent, it started as a 9-bed ward and dispensary named Mosher Hall. In 1907, it became the University Hospital to avoid confusing it with the newly opened University of the Philippines Hospital. Over the next three decades, bed capacity at St. Luke’s Hospital increased to 140 beds. With the Japanese forces occupation during World War II, the hospital’s name was changed to Nippon Byoin. In 1959, St. Luke’s Hospital moved to its new site in Cathedral Heights. Already a 190-bed hospital by then, it included a neuro-psychiatric unit, cobalt therapy unit, and physiotherapy department, all new health services for the community. The era of St. Luke’s as a church-owned institution ended in August 1975. Stewardship was transferred to a board of trustees, and St. Luke’s became an independent, non-sectarian, not-for-profit, non-stock corporation with income continuously reverting back to the hospital for acquisition of world-class equipment, funding of medical research, and providing charity medical care. In line with this, the institution was renamed yet again in 1984 to St. Luke’s Medical Center. In 1991, the hospital was cited by the Asian Institute of Management and the World Executive Digest in their First Annual Management Awards as one of Asia’s Outstanding Companies: “A spectacular growth that has not come by accident, but by design: the product of thoughtful planning, bold-opportunity-seeking, careful weighing of risks, and controlled execution …” Today, a visit to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City is a crash course in modern medicine. It provides the same medical services and care available in the best health institutions around the world. Nestled atop a hilly terrain, the 650-bed SLMC facility today introduces you to its nine (9) institutes (Heart, Radiology, Pathology, Pulmonary Medicine, Ophthalmology, Neurosciences, Digestive Diseases, Cancer, and Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine), thirteen (13) departments (Surgery, Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Emergency Medicine, Out-Patient Care, Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Legal Medicine & Jurispudence, and Dentistry & Oral Surgery) and three (3) centers (Geriatric, Pain Management, and Stone and Prostate Treatment). Adjacent are the Medical Arts Building Complex and the Cathedral Heights Building Complex, where over 1,000 hospital-affiliated medical consultants see outpatients in more than 500 private clinics. Also located within the compound is the St. Luke’s College of Medicine – William H. Quasha Memorial. Dedicated to excellence, SLMC has the perfect synergy of state-of-the-art-technology and first-class human resources in its continuing pursuit to provide high quality health care and service to the country, maintaining its lead in the hospital industry, and living up to its credo “World Class Technology and Expertise in Caring Hands”.

Founded in 1949 by Dr. Jose V. de Los Santos Sr., known as the father of Philippine Orthopedics, the De Los Santos Clinic has planted its roots in health care through years of treatment and rehabilitation of patients suffering from bone anomalies. Dr. JV de Los Santos was complimented by a staff of about 20, and facilitated by an operating room, x-ray, laboratory, pharmacy and 30 beds. The clinic has become a landmark in the Espana, Quezon City area when the de Los Santos’ mission of giving medical attention to more people led to the expansion of the clinic in 1973 into the De Los Santos General Hospital. The hospital was capable of accommodating 150-bedridden patients in Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Medicine and Surgery. The hospital diversified into education and training by opening a school of Nursing & Midwifery in 1975 and became a medical training institution in 1985, both of which have graduated notable professionals in the health care field today. The growth of the institution was continuous due to its dynamic leadership spearheaded by the enterprising wife of Dr. JV, Pacita Villanueva, and its highly qualified medical staff. Today, the company is a medical center offering complete medical service and further expands through constant investment in its facilities and people. Despite its significant growth, the de Los Santos’ never lost sight of their pursuit to reach out to more Filipinos and to contribute to the development of health care. The hospital board is still chaired by the couple who made the hospital possible. It is now managed however, by their children, Dr. Jose V. de Los Santos, Jr. as President and Dr. Efren V. de Los Santos as Medical Director, and, their grandchild Mr. Ronaldo H. de Los Santos as Administrator. In line with the family’s goals, they created subsidiary companies, Applied Diagnostic Ultrasound Inc., Hearth Care Diagnostics Inc., and DLSMC Diagnostic Imaging Corp., all of which were formed to venture in the operation of the most sophisticated diagnostic equipment’s; the opening of a school of Physical Therapy in 1994 which yielded some top-notchers in the board exams; and the setting-up of the Dr. Jose V. de Los Santos, Sr. Foundation for medical research and medical service to indigent patients in 1995. Florida Hospital treats more than one million patient visits each year. In fact, the Florida Hospital system is the busiest system in the country. For the last six years, U.S. News & World Report has recognized Florida Hospital as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” Florida Hospital offers a wide range of health services for the entire family, including many nationally and internationally recognized programs in: * Cardiology * Cancer * Diabetes * Digestive Health * Women’s medicine * Neurology/Neurosurgery * Orthopaedics and rehabilitation. In addition, because Florida Hospital performs more complex cardiac cases than any other facility in the country, MSNBC selected Florida Hospital as the premier focus of their hour long special—”Heart Hospital.”

A new age in healthcare has dawned with the birth of Asian Hospital, Inc. Registered on December 12, 1994 as a Philippine-company engaged in the operation of hospitals and other healthcare facilities in the Philippines, Asian Hospital, Inc. embarked on a breakthrough project through its wholly owned subsidiary, Health Care Properties, Inc. — the Asian Hospital and Medical Center . Completed in 2002, with operations starting on March 15 that same year, Asian Hospital and Medical Center is the first facility of its kind in the country. It provides a caring and comprehensive healthcare that respects life and celebrates it. Inspired by their commitment to the total well-being of man, they at Asian Hospital and Medical Center open their doors to anyone who seeks a restful, stress-free, caring environment. It is their belief that man deserves a holistic and integrated range of services to make him enjoy good health. To this end, their carefully planned medical campus is specially designed to advocate the speedy physical healing of their patients, as well as the complete comfort of their guests and their staff. Ten-storey high, Asian Hospital and Medical Center stands tall on a landscaped 17,258 square meter campus which encompasses the main hospital, outpatient service centers, and a medical office building. Every building, floor, corridor, room, and space is uniquely laid out according to its use and relationship to our varied services. Their facilities at Asian Hospital and Medical Center have been designed to optimize the delivery of patient care. The décor reflects the warm and welcoming ambiance of a five-star hotel so that the stress of illness may be reduced, and physical healing can take place without delay. Their Hospital and Medical Office Buildings are interconnected by covered walkways, underground car park, and two sky bridges overlooking the lush country surroundings and panorama of the city structures. One sky bridge is for the public and the other is used only for the direct transport of patients from the outpatient surgical facilities to the hospital surgical centers. This same principle applies to the elevators: some are for the visitors and non-patients; and some are dedicated to patients. To maintain their world-class tertiary patient care, Asian Hospital ’s service structure includes a 24-hour Emergency services complex, eight (8) operating theaters and forty one (41) intensive care beds. The Hospital’s Cardiovascular Surgery Services offers some of the new innovative technology and procedures in cardiovascular surgery. In addition, the Hospital has a cardiac catheterization laboratory & cardiac rehabilitation services, outpatient & inpatient hemodialysis services, eye diagnostics & laser center, hearing unit, dermatology laser & light center, woman’s health care center, and bone marrow transplant program. Asian Hospital also has comprehensive laboratory, imaging and diagnostic capabilities, including a center for executive health screening and an outpatient laboratory and radiology center.

In its 98th year of dedicated service to the Filipinos, the Philippine General Hospital being the premier tertiary hospital continues to uphold its mission of quality health service particularly, to the underprivileged. In retrospect, since its inception PGH has persevered to be the great public health institution that it is today, bridging the gap between the poor and quality health care. PGH has provided health care for the Filipino people since 1907. It continues to evolve, in the face of complex social and economic problems, with an unwavering commitment to improve the health of the Filipinos, leaving the mark of tatak PGH to their hearts and minds. PGH aspires to meet the highest possible standards and levels of efficiency, effectiveness and quality in all its endeavors. It is driven by the criteria of excellence, continuous improvement and innovation. Its services are made available equitably on the basis of need. PGH has given true meaning to public service with much dedication and zeal. As this institution continues to journey towards the fulfillment of a great vision with great and better anticipation of new and better opportunities for growth, it will remain steadfast in its commitment to showcase excellence and leadership not only in service but on training and research as well. For 97 years of committed service to the nation, the Philippine General Hospital has remained at the helm of bringing the finest health care delivery closer to the public, most specially the poor. It remains the only national referral center for tertiary care, giving direct and quality patient care services to thousands of indigent patients every year from all over the country through its various department and specialized units. The continuing acquisition of state-of-the-art medical equipment, renovation/modernization of facilities and implementation of significant programs all form part of its agenda to improve the quality life of Filipinos.
