The board exam serves as the standard measuring stick to rate how academic schools are able to educate and train its students to meet the minimum quality and standards of nursing education. In lieu of which, this list of the top nursing schools in the Philippines is based its performance on the Nursing Board Exam.
Topping the list is St. Paul University in Iloilo, a private Catholic university that is part of the Saint Paul University System. It was establish in Iloilo in 1975 by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres. Employment opportunities for nurses abound in the government. For nurses who are in for a challenging but not so financially rewarding work as a nurse, one can opt to provide service through the government. There are many government institutions that require nurses. The armed forces of the Philippines for instance may require nurses in the military in all its three branches, army, navy and air force. Becoming a military nurse however, may entail additional training especially if one will be assigned in the fields. The Philippine National Police may also need nurses because police officers are also susceptible to health injuries because of the nature of their job. However, the most common nursing employment in the government is public health nursing. This is a specialized type of nursing that incorporates health care service with public service. A public health nurse is usually assigned in the different health clinics in different communities as well as public or government hospitals around the country. In lieu of which, the Department of Labor and Employment in cooperation with the Department of Health launched the Project NARS program, which is designed to hire and mobilize unemployed nurses to identified municipalities around the country to provide and deliver health care services. Aside from working in public health centers, government hospitals and other government sponsored health programs as nurse, one can also apply as a nurse in local government units (LGUs) as well as government owned and controlled corporations (GOCC’s). LGU’s refer to the local political subdivision offices like the provincial hall, municipal hall and the baranggay.

Training and Seminars are important for nurses and for all professionals for that matter to refresh them with their knowledge or abreast them with the latest discoveries, trends, and equipment in their respective field of expertise. Training and seminars are also a cheaper alternative for professional to gain in depth knowledge about a subject matter to which they can specialize. While there are many professional training and seminar programs available in the country, it is worthwhile to know in advance the training seminars available in your respective area considering the highly demanding jobs of nurses which reduces their free time to attend such critical courses.
The summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio city is one of the primary venues for nurse training and seminars. While many different private healthcare centers sponsor and conduct training seminars for nurses, one of the renowned training providers for the nursing professionals in the Philippines is the GSN International Skills Enhancement and Education Center and the Global Learning Innovations.
