Furthermore, the other way of removing gallstone is the open cholecystectomy, it is the traditional open major abdominal surgery in which the doctors removes the gallbladder through a 5-7 inch opening.   The patients typically stay in the hospital for at least 2-3 days and entail quite a few weeks to recuperate at the comfort of their home.  Patients undergo this procedure stay longer than usual.  This type of operation has been used for over a hundred years ago, still remains a safe and efficient formula for the treatment of symptomatic gallstones removal.
