An inguinal hernia is the protrusion of intestine through the abdominal wall. For instance, repair of lumbar hernias can be performed by closing the fascial defect with nonabsorbable sutures, overlying the aponeuroses, fascial rotation flaps and free fascia lata grafts. The surgery is done fast and can allow patient to get back to their daily routine after a week of rest after the surgery. However, it would be advised that patients should refrain or avoid lifting heavy objects or doing strenuous activities for some time until the wound totally heals.
