The planned Kaplan/CGFNS Advantage Program, Knowledge for Nursing, will provide nursing education and test preparation products and services to hospital organizations, international schools of nursing and individual international nurses. Rollout of the co-branded test preparation product is scheduled for fourth quarter 2008.

The Special Review refers to the series of classes covering the topics included in Tests III and V of the June 2006 of Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE). This is offered exclusively on a voluntary basis to all nurses licensed under the June 2006 NLE.
The voluntary examination will not affect the validity of licenses issued. It is offered merely to enhance employability of successful examinees to qualify for the CGFNS VisaScreen Certificate.

RESULTS of the June 11, 2007 DOLE-initiated voluntary retake examination of Tests III and V of the June 2006 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE)

Pursuant to Executive Order No. 609 Series of 2007, the Department of Labor and Employment, in coordination with the Board of Nursing of the Professional Regulation Commission, is pleased to release the OFFICIAL RESULTS of the June 11, 2007 DOLE-initiated voluntary retake examination of Tests III and V of the June 2006 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE). The retake examination was initiated by the DOLE to qualify our licensed nurses pursuant to the June 2006 NLE to the grant of US VisaScreen Certificate.
A total of 13,338 nurses licensed pursuant to the June 2006 NLE took the voluntary retake examination and 9,198 or 68.96% passed. The rest (4,140) failed to meet the passing grade of at least 75% in both Tests III and V. Results of the voluntary retake examination, however, will not affect their status as licensed nurses. Those who failed will simply not qualify for US VisaScreen Certificate.
The Office of the DOLE Secretary (7th Floor, DOLE Building, Muralla corner General Luna Streets, Intramuros, Manila) shall start issuing Certificates to successful examinees starting on September 3, 2007, from 9am – 12n and 1:30pm – 4:30pm, upon presentation of the examinee’s PRC License. The examinees are advised to strictly follow the schedules below for the release of individual Certificates.
Those residing outside of Metro Manila who wish to claim their Certificates via the DOLE Regional Offices are advised to register with the Regional Office nearest their place of residence/work. The DOLE Central Office shall transmit (in batches) the Certificates within 3 days from receipt of notice from the Regional Office concerned.
In either instance, all proxy claimants / representatives are required to present an authorization letter and a photocopy of the examinee’s PRC License (original license must be presented).

The Department of Labor and Employment initiated retake, in coordination with the Centers of Excellence Nursing Schools, will provide for voluntary special review classes in preparation to the voluntary retake of the equivalent of Tests III and V of the June 2006 Board of Nursing Examination pursuant to Executive Order No. 609, series of 2007.
Philippine Gov’t offers free review for nursing exam retakers

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Association of Deans of Philippine College of Nursing (ADCPN) on Saturday forged an agreement to give free special review classes for the June 2006 nursing board passers.
The seven-page agreement inked between DOLE and ADCPN officials identifies the 29 nursing schools nationwide that would offer reviews free of charge for the nurses who would want to take the voluntary review of Test 3 and 5, which have been leaked out during the June 2006 licensure exam.
Labor Secretary Arturo Brion said that eight nursing schools recognized as Centers of Excellence (COE) by the Commission on Higher Education and 21 “selected" others have responded to “voluntary retake" initiated by the DOLE.
“These schools are practically doing this with no profit at all," Brion told reporters in an impromptu press conference Saturday.
Signatories to the agreement are Brion, ADCPN president Dean Carmelita Divinagracia and Dean Josefina Tuazon of the UP Manila College of Nursing.
Among the COE schools chosen include UP Manila and University of Sto. Tomas in the National Capital Region; St. Louis University in Baguio City, St. Paul University in region II, St. Paul University in Iloilo, Siliman University in region 8, Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro in region 10 and San Pedro College in Davao for region XI.
Test 3 relates to Care of Clients with Psychological Alterations (Medical Surgical Nursing) and shall require 40 hours of review classes while Test 5 relates to Care of Clients with Physiologic and Psychosocial Alterations (Psychiatric Nursing) and requires 24 hours of review classes.
Under the agreement, the fees for the review classes were waived and DOLE will provide P1,200 assistance per enrolled reviewee. The examination fee has likewise been waived for those who will avail themselves of the voluntary retake, which will take place in June and December.
Registration will start on March 21 until April 4 and classes will start on April 16 up to
June 3.
Brion said a minimum of 80 reviewees to 100 individuals will be accommodated per class but this is on a “first come, first served" bases.
There are 17,000 nursing students that have been affected by the controversies and Brion said they expect 15,000 to retake and undergo review. - GMANews.TV
